Upcoming Conferences

The annual conference of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) will take place from September 30 to October 2 in Jersey City, New Jersey. The conference program includes papers on a variety of topics, ranging from standards and codes to research and case studies. The conference will also include an exhibit hall with representatives from product manufacturers, engineering service consultants and allied professional organizations. Vertical Access partner Kelly Streeter, PE will be attending the conference.

The Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) will hold its 2010 annual conference in Denver, Colorado between October 6 and 9. The theme of APT Denver 2010 is "Layers Across Time-Preserving a Diverse Western Heritage." A complete list of workshops, session tracks, paper abstracts and conference logistics is available on the APT conference website. Vertical Access partner Evan Kopelson will present a paper entitled "Let's call a spall a spall: An examination of condition glossaries" on Saturday, October 9 in the Problems and Solutions session of the Materials track.

Vertical Access is a member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), an organization that brings together leaders of colleges and universities and the professionals who support them. SCUP's southern regional conference will take place from October 17 to 19 in Charleston, South Carolina. The theme of the conference is "Success in the New Reality," and the conference program includes workshops and presentations related to facility management, administration and curriculum at institutions of higher education. Kelly Streeter will be present at the conference.

The annual conference of the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) will take place from October 21 to 24 at The Cooper Union in New York City. ACADIA 2010 "will explore the ways designers, architects, engineers and scientists collect, analyze and assemble information through computational systems." TPAS LLC is a sponsor of the conference and partners Jerry Laiserin, Kelly Streeter and Evan Kopelson will be in attendance.

The Graduate Program in Historic Preservation in the School of Design of the University of Pennsylvania will host a two-day symposium entitled "SMARTdoc: Heritage Recording and Information Management in the Digital Age" on November 19 and 20. The SMARTdoc symposium in Philadelphia will address the Why, When and How of heritage information through six forums that will cover archival research, recordation methods, condition assessment, implementation and information dissemination. Kelly Streeter and Evan Kopelson, partners of Vertical Access and TPAS LLC will present "Direct Digital Documentation for Recording Historic Resources" in the forum on Information Systems and Dissemination scheduled for Saturday, November 20.
