Building description
The Municipal Building in New York City, the first skyscraper designed by McKim, Mead & White, is a notable example of Beaux Arts design incorporating Roman and Italian Renaissance decorative elements. Constructed to house the offices of the city government following the consolidation of the five boroughs in 1898, the building consists of a 25-story base on top of which rises a 15-story tower. Most of the exterior is clad in granite, with terra cotta used at some areas of the building, including the parapet at the 25th floor setbacks.

Scope of work
- VA documented the locations of cracks and loose terra cotta requiring temporary stabilization.
- Using hand tools, VA removed loose terra cotta as an emergency remedial measure.
