Mechanical Anchor Strength in Stone Masonry
For the shear testing, however, there are three unique combinations of bedding orientation and direction of pull. The top two configurations pictured are identical: the anchor is installed perpendicular to the bedding plane and pulled in a perpendicular direction. The lower left image shows the anchor installed parallel to the bedding plane and pulled in a perpendicular direction. The lower right image shows the anchor installed parallel to bedding plane and pulled parallel to bedding plane, like pulling a pencil out of the pages of a book.
